I’ve always loved writing, and I’m so happy to have found so many ways to scratch that itch. I got started at Ohio University’s student paper covering campus news and local activism, and I had dreams of being a political reporter. But after graduation, I landed an internship that changed my course. I headed to ABC News in New York to work with their entertainment and lifestyle teams, and I loved it. This led to a gig covering television for Bustle, where I spent a couple of years interviewing actors, analyzing plot twists and fan theories, and watching a lot of TV.
Eventually, I wanted a new challenge — I wanted to use the storytelling skills I’d honed over the years in a more strategic way. I took a job as a communications specialist for West Virginia University, and a whole new world opened up. I worked for three years executing internal and external communication plans, learning content strategy, managing social media, and finding countless new ways to put my creativity and journalism experience to use.
I now work as a digital communications and content specialist for a D.C.-based public health nonprofit, and I continue to freelance on the side. I write for various online and print publications and help individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits with social media, copywriting, and other communications needs.
As for the personal stuff, I live in Columbus, Ohio with my husband Tony and our very silly dog, Carl. I love going to the movies, scoping out antique stores, lounging in cute cocktail bars and coffee shops with my friends, trying new restaurants, cooking, meeting up with my book club, and exploring my city.
It’s nice to meet you — thanks for stopping by.
